Under the cleanest skies in the world, surrounded by infinite stars and within a valley well-known for its outstanding cosmic intensity due to the Kankana Mountain, San Pedro has found a place –within the context of its Origin Project–, the “Solar” (quarter) N°10, where Syrah grapes ripen under this mythical mountain’s mineral glow, the cold ocean breezes and Elqui’s magical sunsets.
This is Kankana del Elqui, Solar 10. New San Pedro’s Ultra Premium wine launched the year 2010. 100% Syrah, made of grapes grown precisely in that special terroir.
It’s name was chosen as an honor to the Kankana Mountain, which is responsible for the Elqui’s magnetic phenomena thanks to its basic component, iron oxide. According to local inhabitants, it is like a great antenna of more than 4,000 meters height, capable of attracting and irradiating positive energy to surrounding people and native nature. The Diaguitas Indians baptized it as Kankana, meaning camp or cooking fire, due to the bright red color its peak acquires with the last lights of every day.
