Cabo de Hornos or, Cape Horn, takes its name from the southernmost extreme of the Americas.
San Pedro began developing Cabo de Hornos in the early nineties from a vineyard of old-vine Cabernet in Cúrico Valley that consistently showed particular character and elegance. And so it was that the first few vintages namely 1994 through 2002 were comprised strictly of this Cabernet.
Today, due in part to the growth of Cabo, and in part to the restlessness of our chief winemaker, Cabo de Hornos includes the fruit of Syrah and Malbec from other old vines in the Alto Cachapoal, Maipo and Maule Valleys. The original Cabernet continues to provide the base or foundation for our Icon.
The mission behind Cabo de Hornos is to create a wine of notable concentration in balance and harmony, to represent the best of San Pedro from the best fruit available.
