1865 Limited Edition

Toward the pursuit of greater elevation this vineyard was planted in the early 1990’s.

This special terroir’s characteristics include: lower temperatures than traditional Chilean wine regions that helps to obtain wines with greater fruit expression and softer more complex tannins. The thermal oscillation between day and night here exceeds 20°C. This variation is ideal for obtaining healthy polyphenols in the wine (tannins and anthocians). These vineyards are located at 700 meters above the sea level, where the soils are colluvial, and include granite and angular stones in the soils. This constitutes a restrictive subsoil, that prevents an excess of vigor in the plants.

The proximity to the Andes and the elevation, results in elegance in the wines produced with grapes from these vines. During the first years, these vineyard’s grapes were destined to more simple wines, because we were waiting for the passage of time and the evolution of the plants, until we decided to use them in making top-end wines during the harvest 2006. During the whole eight-years waiting, we were devoted to vinifying each different cuartel of these Cabernet and Syrah vines separately. This allowed us to recognize very exactingly the quality obtained in each one of these “mezo-terroir”.
