On its February edition, prestigious American Wine&Spirits magazine, made a special mention about Chile and its wines regarding the recent earthquake, even calling its readers to lend our country a hand.

In this edition, the Chilean journalist and also columnist at this magazine, Patricio Tapia, highlighted our 1865 Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 as one of the Top Wines From Chile, awarding it 90 points and choosing it as the Top Red Value of the selection.

On his tasting notes, Tapia emphasizes that this wine was made from vines planted 40 years ago in Puente Alto, at the Maipo Valley, and describes the presence of sour cherries and menthol scents in contrasts with deep fruit ripeness on the palate, along with rich flavors of figs which take a plunge into a nervy acidity.

At the 10 best Cabernet Sauvignon Category, our wine 1865 Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 was chosen as the number one, with 90 points. A remarkable recognition for a key variety in both, local and international markets.

But besides this first place, San Pedro also stood out in other categories:
• Icon Wines: Cabo de Hornos 2005, 92 points (4th best score)
• 10 best Sauv.Bl: 1865 Sauvignon Blanc 2008, 91 points (2nd best score)
• 10 best Carmenere: 1865 Carmenere 2006, 88 points (3 rd best score)
• 10 best Malbec: 1865 Malbec 2005, 87 points (4 th best score)
• Sauvignon Blanc: Castillo de Molina Sauvignon Blanc Elqui 2008, 89 points

These results were announced during the presentation dinner of the guide, which is a compilation of all tasting notes published once a month in La Cav Magazine by the expert’s panel. This three members panel is directed by Sommelier Pascual Ibáñez and during all this year 2008 blind-tasted about 1,000 Chilean wines, all of them, available in local supermarkets and wine-shops. The guide with these scores circulates with La Cav’s last edition and constitute an useful tool to strengthen and promote San Pedro’s wines.
