October 23rd, 2009.- This week, Viña San Pedro took a firm step towards a world class future, with the launch of the OCA Project – supply chain optimization– for the whole VSPT Wine Group at its Molina Plant.
Our CEO, Javier Bitar, was in charge of announcing the launch to 180 workers –who are the people in the winery directly involved in OCA– including Roelf Duursema, CCU’s Managing Comptroller, and other CCU and VSPT Wine Group’s executives, who attended this ceremony carried out at San Pedro in Molina.
“Chile has just finished qualifying for the World Cup, but this is something we have to live qualifying each and every day –stressed Javier Bitar in his speech–, because our wines are present on the five continents, they are enjoyed by citizens of more than 80 countries around the globe and we compete every day with a larger number of New and Old World’s wineries.
“We have learned that in order to succeed, operations must become a more and more important factor: clients ask for better service, the competition forces us to be more active and dynamic, consumers demand higher quality and more innovative products, and we have to be environmentally friendly and be ready to seize opportunities… … we have to be awake, ready and nimble”.
The Operational excellence aimed for with OCA will be achieved through the implementation of world class manufacturing processes. This is a coherent, innovative and structured philosophy which reinforces an efficient and intelligent way of working, integrating a series of tools in order to eliminate waste, enhance efficiency and guarantee ongoing process improvement. Of course, the ultimate goal to become a world class producer is only possible through the active and consistent participation of all of our workers.
OCA has already been implemented in other companies within CCU, such as: Eccusa, CCU-Nestlé Waters (Coinco), Breweries CCU Quilicura, Antofagasta and Temuco, and its subsidiary, Plasco.
Viña San Pedro is proud to be the first winery within the group to start with this program’s implementation, aiming to make it spread it to the other wineries within the group just as soon as the initial phases are accomplished.
