Winemaker of GatoNegro
Carlos Chandía is our winemaker with exclusive dedication to one of the largest and oldest San Pedro brands.
He graduated as Agronomic Engineer at the Universidad Católica de Chile, coursed a specialization in Oenology and is a member of the Chilean Winemaking Agronomic Engineers Association.
He firstly approached the wine industry, working at Viña Caliterra, as winemaking assistant in La Arboleda Winery. Then, he traveled to France, to the Burgundy, to work harvests in Chateau Peneau, Haux, a valuable opportunity which he seized to get to know the production of very different wines, such as the liquorish ones, and the Cremont, a typical sparkling wine from the South of France.
Since the year 2001, Carlos works as winemaker in Viña San Pedro, assuming several positions until being today the winemaker in charge of the team that creates our GatoNegro wines, the largest selling Chilean wine brand around the world.
