1865 Single Vineyard Pinot Noir is selected as the Best Pinot Noir in AWoCA 2017
The 14th ANNUAL WINES OF CHILE AWARDS 2017 (AWoCA) took place in San Francisco, USA with a panel of over twenty US experts and the finest Chilean wines.
It was the third edition of the most important and influential competition in the Chilean wine industry which is held outside the country. The competition took place over the course of two days during which 380 wines were blind tasted from over 82 wineries.
Among this year’s prize winners was one of Viña San Pedro’s prestigious wines: 1865 Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016, which was selected as the competition’s Best Pinot Noir, also receiving Gold Medal.
This wine from the Elqui Valley is pale ruby-red in color, clean and bright. On the nose, it is fresh, elegant, serious and very mineral. Notes of sour cherry, sage, licorice and undergrowth stand out alongside a pronounced typicity and excellent complexity. The wine is balanced and melodic on the palate, with excellent structure and a crisp acidity, culminating in a fresh, persistent sensation.
The award ceremony was carried out on November 6th in the city of Washington DC, during which the finest wines of each category received prizes. Following this, an event took place where over 300 guests, consumers and clients among them, were invited to enjoy the award-winning wines.
